Fabric,Felt,Jewelry and Ribbon

Do you have a friend, sister or creative soul you share time with to be creative.? I  do, my  friend Mona.If you have a few minutes she would love a visit.  We share creative thoughts, tools and some of our stash. Mona has this new book, Inspired to Sew by Bari J. Yes, she let me borrow the book.

Bari shares several different skills & techniques . I think it is a book worth adding to your creative/crafting library. I like the Flower Brooch project. So off to look through my stash of fabric, felt jewelry, and ribbon. With my needle and thread in hand I started to create. This is the one I started for my friend M.

Below is a look at the final results. What do you think? I like the finished product.

I am planning on making some more Brooches after the holidays some with Spring colors. It is project that doesn't take to long and you probably have the tools and materials on hand.. It's a great gift idea. Hope this next week is a blessing  for everyone . I hear the nice crackling fire calling me.

A Pumpkin Search

This past Saturday we had a relaxing time  not to many places to go or meetings to attend. So we decided to go on a pumpkin search at Gnismer Farms.

Trailer  rides,Scarecrow building,Corn stalks and pumpkins .

The weather was great. Now on to our pumpkin search.

These are the two we chose. Now on to the house to create a  Fall display with them and later for carving.

Hope you enjoyed our visit to the farm.  I loved to hear about your fall decorating. Wish you a great week.

Creating for a Show!

I have been  preparing for a show in  Sept. This post will be a short one with photos. I would like to share some of my houses that I created. I am also getting geared up to sell my creations on my etsy shop soon. On to my houses:
Before my creative flow began this is how the houses looked.

This is what my created flow designed.

The form is already built and I just let my create thoughts flow. I have been thinking on designing my own form and then decorating. Well, I better get busy, more on the agenda to create. Hope you have a great day and week.

Wow! What a Weekend !

Just a quick post to let you now about the AWESOME weekend I had. I attended my first Women of Faith conference ( not to be my last).

God puts us in places and times just when we need to be wrapped in his arms. I was reminded that we were created to be connected to Him first and to others. Laughter, Oh what laughter I had and enjoyed. I 'm thankful for the opportunity to have gone and Praise our Lord and share with other women. Let me share with you some of the wonderful people on the Over the Top team this year. Authors: Andy Andrews, Patsy Clairmont, Marilyn Meberg, Lisa Welshel, and Brenda Warner. Singing Artists: WOF Worship team,Sandi Patty, Amy Grant, and Mandisa. I can't wait to dive in to some of the books and listen to some wonderful music.I thought about what my favorite part of this opportunity was, this is it a young woman came up on stage to sing part of a song with Sandi Patty. I believe her name was Lisa Smith. Lisa sang in sign language, she sang with such exuberance and my thought was sometimes we don't have to make a sound to praise God just let our hearts flow toward him. Thank you for the opportunity Lord.
This post isn't about an item or object I created ,but what God has created in us. So go out and create and connect with Him and others . You just might be and inspiration.

My Sewing Project

A new dress , my sewing project I have been working on this week. I started to play can you guess what I've been working on post, but I got side track doing others things. I bought one of those patterns you can  make  in two hours.

I made the short dress. I used a linen tablecloth that I purchased on one of my day trips. This is a little lighter in weight than linen fabric I saw at the fabric stores. It is very soft. Below, I have my dress hanging on Anne, my somewhat dress form.

Here in the next photo you can view the white floral trim I added  around the neck to soften the neckline.

I thought the trim complimented it very well. Hmh! I think I might get some pink  leggins to wear with the dress. Oh! I almost forgot to share about the  shoulder purse. About three weeks ago my daughter and I bought two of  the bags to carry just a few items around with us while we are out and about. We had fun decorating them. Here is a close up of mine:

Here is a view of hers:

What a blessing it is to use our creative thoughts and energy, especially with others. Well I am off to work on some other creative thought. Have Awesome day.

Recycling & A New Storage Container

Here is a quick recycle idea . I recycled one of those cylinder box
that wall decals come in and decoupaged this tissue paper on the container.

Working with cylinder containers are a bit tricking for me.I always seem to get the paper laid out accurately and then once I start to glue, the design is going the wrong way that I intended too.
Anyone ever that problem?Chuckle! Here is a look of  the paper on with two coats of Mod Podge.
I love that product.

While  sitting there looking at the cylinder OMG I had  a thought. I have the these word stampsby Anna Griffin. I stamped the words Love, Believe , and Dream in the middle of the open part of the design.

The top turned out great.

Add a couple more coats of Mod Podge and you'll have  a new storage container.
Enjoy your day and  include some creative time for yourself.

A Delightful Project

Hello,
I managed to squeeze this delightful project in my very busy last couple of months . While, visiting my mother one weekend we drove to Lorena ( a little town ) down the highway from her home. There was this little antique shop. I found this wonderful little baby clothes hamper.I am always on the lookout for interesting containers for storage.

Cute size.Don't you think! Here I'm spray painting it Ivory I like to use Krylon indoor/outdoor in a can.
I love using the handle for spray cans it so much easier on the index finger. Great tool to have on hand.

Burlap, ribbon, Photo images and trims what to choose to cover the top. Fun! I love this part of the project.

First, I printed, ironed, and sewed on the fabric image. Now on to the covering process. I doubled my burlap and pull tight to get smooth and stapled .  I covered the staples with a thin piece of cardboard.

I was playing around with what to embellish the side with and I decided to go with wired ribbon. I just twisted, scrunched the ribbon and wahlah!.I liked the way it turned out.

Almost to the end. If you are wondering what the inside looks like here is a shot.It is just the right size for a bag of poly-fiber to keep on hand.

Oh! I did add this beautiful flower jewelry on the front to complement the final look. Here is a shot of the front
and the top of the hamper.

Hope you enjoyed this post. I loved working on this one and it really did not take to long at all.I just love when a project comes together.

A Road Trip Fun!Fun!Fun!

Road Trips I love them. Last weekend a friend and I left at an early 5:30 in the morning and headed in the direction of Round Top,Texas. Energetic and ready to go. The weather was great.

If you like antiques, interesting decor, food, people watching, and of course spending time with a friend this is a fun road trip to take. Here are a couple of photos I took to share. First stop Marburger Farm, very interesting and unique antiques and stuff.

Magnolia Pearl - Interesting, eclectic,  and different. I love it.

After a day at Margurger Farm we headed North on TX-237 toward Brenham. We stayed at a bed and breakfast called Farview. Steve and Linda ,the Inn keepers are excellent host and the breakfast was awesome. So take a break and visit  their website www.farviewbedandbreakfast.com. The next day we headed back down TX-237 to go for another day of seeking out treasures. In Round top and other little towns along the this highway there is so much to see. Below is a shot of some concrete decor for gardens and yards. I took this shot while taking a rest.

Here is a shot of some of my treasures.I was on a budget. What an enjoyable time to rest, search for treasures while spending time with a friend.

Food for thought- Sometimes in our busy maybe stressful life we just need to stop and take a road trip even if its for a day. Hope you have a great week.
